#GiveWithThanks.

You have to love Social Media and how it can spread things like wildfire. The Good. The Bad. The Ugly. And of course, the pin thin models propped ever so perfectly on pool lounge chairs with sun-kissed glowing skin. I know half the world is buzzing about the whole “Fake Social Media” craze that has erupted over the last couple of days and as much as I am guilty for stopping too long at a stop sign to snap that beautiful sunset photo for Instagram, I am pro-Social Media because of all the good it does and awareness it brings. Plus, what am I really guilty of? Wanting to share something as beautiful as a sunset with my friends and family? I honestly, don’t see any wrong or “fake” in that – but on to a lighter topic. When I found The Small Seed’s “Give With Thanks” challenge I was a little disheartened that we need things such as “challenges” to promote doing good – but at the same time happy that there are things like this to remind us because amongst Social Media we can quickly get swept away with superficial things and often lose sight of the good that Social Media can bring.

I love the idea of giving back and spreading cheer throughout the year and this season is perfect for that. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to volunteer at a Soup Kitchen on Thanksgiving but have found that the list was full! So I’ve found other ways to donate my time and believe it or not, these small acts add up. Even though Hera is a little young to completely comprehend the impact that “doing good” has, I’d like to think that I’m instilling kindness into her subconscious. Plus, I can’t tell you how excited she gets when she adds a leaf to her tree. So this month, or any month really, I invite you to join in on this challenge and let’s spread a little love and kindness around the world and show what good Social Media is capable of. Lord knows we need it.
