A Sweet Baby Shower.

I just wanted to share a couple of the details from my cousin’s baby shower from this past weekend. It was so nice to have her visiting from the East Coast and to be able to shower her with love (and gifts!) Alexis, from AE&Co did an amazing job of transforming my house into a beautiful woodland scene perfect for welcoming a sweet baby boy. Everything was definitely in the details at this little party, from the vintage depression glass to mother of pearl flatware. We cannot wait to head back East early next year to meet this little guy. He has no idea how loved he already is. We’re patiently awaiting your arrival, little one.A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible, especially you Alexis. Check her out here.

Natural Ant Spray

We just came back from a wonderful trip from the East Coast to home full of ants, not quite the “welcome home” party I was expecting. With this abnormally hot summer/fall we’ve been having in Los Angeles lately has really brought out all the creepy critters. So to combat this I went straight to my essential oils and concocted an all natural “ant spray” to take back my home. I love this stuff because not only is it effective but it smells great and I know it’s safe to use around my daughter.

Natural Ant Spray

1 Cup of Distilled Water
½ Cup of Witch Hazel
20-25 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil
20-25 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil
10 drops of Grapefruit Essential Oil
10 drops of Clove Essential Oil

Combine all ingredients into a spray bottle and shake. This works great because the blend of oils help masks their scent trails as well as contains natural occurring chemicals, which are safe to humans but toxic to ants. Spray as needed or around the baseboards and entry ways to prevent ants from visiting.

Hello there, old friend.

After a brief moment of panic when I accidentally deleted my hosting account, therefore losing my entire blog, I pleaded with my hosting account (and paid a lot of money) for them to access their emergency servers to retrieve all of my blog data (a.k.a. years of memories) that were floating aimlessly around in the vas interwebs so that I could get back to my roots, sort to speak. With my daughter, turning 2 in December, things have finally fallen into routine, this mama wants to get back into the swing of things herself. So for all the hiatuses that I have taken, this one definitely deserves an apology. I’m sorry. But I’m back. With Fall right around the corner and us finally moved into our new home, there is just too much that I have to share!

Create // Halloween Boo’s!

One of my favorite memories of Halloween as a child was going “boo’ing”. If you’re not familiar with this tradition then you are seriously missing out. I haven’t been “boo’ing” since I was about 10 years old but the thought of going again has crossed my mind every year since. Now that we have Hera to celebrate Halloween with this year, I thought it was time to start up this tradition again! Even though she may only be 9 months old, it won’t stop me from using her as an excuse to spread a little Halloween cheer. Okay, so for those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, allow me to explain: Boo’ing is when you wrap up little baskets filled with Halloween treats and secretly deliver them to your friends. Once you’ve received your “Boo!” you place a sign in your window letting others know that you have already been “boo’d”. You then make two copies of the little notes inside, make two Halloween treat bags, and then secretly deliver them to two of your friends that have yet to be “boo’d”. It’s so fun to see the neighborhood streets become lined with “We’ve Been Boo’d!” signs as Halloween draws nearer and nearer and it’s such a simple way to spread some festive cheer. I’ve been counting down the days until October 1st so Hera and I can set out to “Boo!”. I thought I’d share with you guys the little treat bags I put together for Hera’s friends along with some free printable “Boo!” signs and notes that I whipped up for you to do your own Boo’ing! So have at it!

Every year we go to our family friend’s big Halloween Party; last year I was pregnant – so this will be Hera’s first Halloween! I cannot wait to take her to the pumpkin patch! If you follow me on Instagram then you have already seen Hera’s Halloween costume I have been working on. She’s going as Little Red Riding Hood! I’ve yet to still figure out what I’m going to be, I was kind of thinking about being the BIG BAD WOLF! What do you think? Do you guys have any awesome Halloween traditions?

For our “Boo!” Bags I hand drew the children’s name in a metallic paint pen and filled them with fun (and cheap!) treasures we picked up such as: a “design your own” coffee mug, some stickers, classic spider rings and some sweet treats! I also found some super cute ribbon that resembled spiderwebs at Michael’s Craft store that I couldn’t resist. It was only $1! I tied on a few seasonal findings that I had laying around and viola! A cute, fun and festive little goody bag for our “spook”tacular friends! (And yes, I’m going to be that cheesy person with horrible Halloween jokes, don’t get me started on my “Howl”aween Dog Treats I made last year! Hope you guys have as much fun spreading a little Halloween cheer as we did!

Motherhood // 9 Months New.

Happy nine months to my little adventurous soul. Your eyes have shown me things I’ve been blind to and your heart has shown me how deep my love runs. Thank you for making me laugh, teaching me patience and most of all – being you. I couldn’t imagine spending my days with anyone else in my arms. I love you so much my little Hera Bea.

Bits + Pieces // Utter excitement.

Okay you guys, I’m still shrieking with excitement over here! Remember my silk peony tutorial? (If you missed it, check it out here!) Well… they are featured in this month’s issue of Wedding Magazine! I was so thrilled when Burda Publications contacted me about sharing my tutorial in their publication a couple of months ago. It’s kind of nice to know that my mom isn’t the only one who reads my blog, actually I’m not even sure if she reads it these days! All joking aside, it really is amazing to receive a little recognition, and actually seeing my work in print completely made my day.

Since you’re here reading this, you’ve most likely already seen my tutorial but I would recommend checking out this month’s issue anyways … the seasonal flower arrangements and ideas along with their stunning fall color palette is completely inspiring and absolutely breath taking. It’s totally getting me in the Fall mood. Go take a peek! You can download this month’s issue here!
